It Is So Simple
The U.S. and much of the world have lived in Keynesian utopia for decades. No one believes that debt matters. In our personal and business lives we pay the price for failure-bankruptcy. Governments don’t have to immediately pay for their overspending as they can raise taxes, tariffs, and other under-the-radar ways to increase income. And on top of that larceny, they have a central bank which can create money out of thin air. But it won’t continue forever.
Corrupt politicians accuse each other of cutting some program and hurting their constituents. If one would say that social security, Medicare, welfare, military, etc. needs to be cut, then the accused is said to not care about the voter. A good share of the population gets a government check. These people would be hurt by any effort to balance the budget. This means that this circus will go on till the tent collapses on our collective heads.
At present we are in a growing economy because taxes were cut, progress impeding regulations are being eliminated,
and the nation is under the leadership of someone who believes that being dependent on thugs from around the world isn’t a good idea.
Voting should be based on the character of a person and not on how much largess he/she/it can ring from the taxpayer. We vote our pocketbooks. I think for a short season we will have sound leadership. But as the history of Israel in the Bible shows us, the pendulum swings back and forth between prudence and overindulgence. We are being blessed with an opportunity to reach the world with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray we all redeem the time we have left.
