Transition
I realize that transgender people young and old have deep personal issues with a decision to live outside the biological box they are in. However, in our current culture of inclusiveness, especially among the young, I think those depressive and suicidal thoughts are part and parcel for the teenage live. My own kid would answer your questions the same way about depression, suicide, and hopelessness. The atmosphere of doom our children grow up in leaves them little reason to be hopeful of the future.
My wife and I, like others who take on the responsibility of parenting, were under profound stress and anxiety ourselves from what our children were going through. People living a lifestyle on the fringe are throwing another layer on top of an already troubled time of life.
Transgender people will suffer some form of discrimination because of their lifestyle. Certain occupations cannot abide segments of the population that depend on drugs to maintain their health as is the case with the military, police, etc. If suicide is higher among the LGBT community, then there would be a natural reason to keep them out of situations that require an even temperament.
The problem society now faces is that the LGBT community is implementing huge effort in the pursuits of encouraging children to question their natural gender. This is dangerous as children are exactly that, children; manipulation of their minds concerning life-changing decisions should at all cost be discouraged and they should be allowed to make these decisions on their own, in their own time and not encouraged in what is increasingly becoming faddish.
Keeping our sanity in an ever-evolving perception of what it means to be human is at best frustrating and in a future sense frightening. As science opens Pandora’s box of tricks it will become even more troubling. Technology has enabled the medical profession to advance in ways we never dreamed of. The question remains, should they. It happens to fast to consider ethics as even ethics is coming under assault.
I am under constant remembrance that Lot’s spirit was vexed every day by what was going on around him. He became weak and unable to do the right thing because he had a wife that loved Sodom. That of course is a poor excuse for doing the ungodly thing. But for most men that seems to suffice.
