Economics
Economics is a biological mystery. Biological because it’s made up of the decisions people make in managing their lives and a mystery because understanding people isn’t possible. If we have an understanding of how to make good decisions then we can discern on an individual basis if people are making good financial decisions or not. However on a macro level we can’t say what people are going to do. People in mass become blockheads especially in crisis situations. Economists can not understand blockheads. When they tell us they do they are either loose with the truth or fooling themselves. Our college system has taught all students the economic theories of Keynes. Independent thought (political correctness) has hindered the individual from questioning the holy men of approved thought and so we have arrived at the financial cliff with many unaware of our predicament. I’ve given up telling people too much. Everyone likes normal and who can blame them; there’s been a whole lot of destruction of normal. They’ve got lives to live. Surely the unthinkable can’t possibly be happening. The politicians have shown an unbelievable ability to kick the can down the road. The can is getting monumentally heavy but I have to admit that it doesn’t pay to underestimate the talent of the blockheads in government. They have been the wizards behind the curtain and have led the mass of blockheads to an ever higher cliff. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, many are madly clicking their heels together in a hopeless effort to return to “Kansas”.
