For The Love of Christ
I look around, I see an atmosphere of distrust and hate. It’s as if love has been dealt a death blow. There has always been conflict, but we have crossed the threshold of a new place, a place where family and friend have become our enemy. Everything is horizontal; there is no vertical.
In our present culture, we have all become little gods. Like Adam and Eve, we believe we know the difference between good and evil. Confrontation leads to violence. Violence leads to death. We are in a most dangerous position. We need Jesus Christ.
It’s really up to the followers of Jesus Christ to bridge this gap between left and right. A solutionless world needs a mediator and that is Jesus Christ.
I wonder why so few who claim to follow Christ aren’t interested in saving a lost world. We want horizontal problems fixed and only as an aside mention the vertical problem we all have, that being no or little communication with God. Jesus said if I be lifted up I’ll draw all men to me. Is it possible just to love the people Jesus died for and stop trying to change them.
Maybe it’s time we humbled ourselves, love the unlovable, and followed Christ. Our job is to make Christ attractive by doing the work of love, because it’s love that covers a multitude of sins. Politics is for the gain of power over others. We must show the world the advantage of allowing Jesus Christ to have all the power. We need to be reminded that what little power we may gain will be lost at the grave. Then we will see Christ in all his power and glory. Then we will realize that we had nothing to bring to the table and all we have we owe to him. This is everything our family, friends, and enemies need. They, like us, desperately need a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the answer for the world today. Above him is no other, Jesus is the way.
