From The Mouth of Babes
My wife, like most people, is on Facebook every day. Today she showed me this video of a five year old black girl talking about the president; she didn’t want Donald Trump to be president. Is this where we are as a nation, pumping up our cute kids to deliver our political message to the world? Shouldn’t we shelter our children from the dirty work of politics? Wouldn’t it be nice if our kids could be innocent for as long as they can? Some don’t have that opportunity I know; but if we are able, shouldn’t we?
I remember our oldest son at seven years old witnessing someone being shot on TV. He literally almost fell over like the guy being shot. We hadn’t realized how much we had kept him from the violence that appeared on that screen daily. It was shocking to him. I wish I could have talked about these things with him first. You don’t know what they see when they are away from you or what they may be subjected to. If their behavior changes, something happened that was hard or difficult for them to deal with. Life goes by fast when you’re raising kids. Sometimes you have to stop and take the time to understand what’s taking place and get help if you don’t know how to deal with it.
I’m just speaking out of experience. Decisions are better when foresight is the day ahead and not twenty years out. We’re always looking at the future long term when in reality it should be planned every day. That’s why scripture says to work while it is still day. You don’t know when the night comes.
