Let’s Find Somebody

The world is lost in sin.  Lost is a hopeless condition.  Lost people don’t know where they are.  All their days repeat themselves, and no idea which way to go.  Oh, there’s plenty of advice from many quarters on which way is the best way to go, but choosing one is hard.  We live in this jungle called earth and it’s tempting to accept advice from those that live well on planet earth.

People know something is wrong but putting a finger on what it is, well impossible.  And on top of this sixth sense of ill, we don’t realize the second part of being lost; we’re lost in sin.  We love sin which is doing things our way.  We love the darkness.  We like being in charge of our own lives as much as possible.  Everybody’s trying to run our lives and we don’t like it.  We are all in rebellion.

We don’t know God, we don’t love God.  We like our way.  We are hopelessly lost in sin, separated from God.

Then someone tells us about putting our faith in Christ and suddenly we have a choice to make.  Will we follow this guy that’s been dead for two thousand years?   Or should we find something that lets us have a more hands-on approach to our search for truth.  After all,  there are lots of choices out there and why humble yourself to following Jesus Christ.  After all, we live in a world that’s fast progressing.  The world is getting to be a better place, isn’t it?

Following Christ sounds like I have no say and must attend this church filled with people I don’t know and probably wouldn’t pick to associate with.  Christians seem to stand out and that’s certainly not appealing.  And you’re supposed to tell others about it and get them involved too.  It’s like network marketing or something.  Yoga and meditation don’t lay that on you.

And then there’s the fact that I am a great person.  I don’t deserve death.  A sinner?  Sure, I haven’t lived a perfect life but hey, I’m doing alright.  At least I thought I was.  That’s what no one wants to come to grips with.  But I found out I’m a sinner.  I’m lost.  I needed a way out and it wasn’t going to happen unless I accepted Jesus Christ.  Being found is a whole lot better than being lost.  Let’s go find somebody.
